Starting the New Year with Glitter and Ruffles

It's the start of the new year, I'm currently on break from school and it's shockingly warm (for winter) in Arkansas - all of which call for celebration! So obviously there's no better way to do that than wearing glitter shoes, a ruffled sweatshirt, pink beanie and a rose gold purse, am I right!?

Hah - okay...maybe that's just me. But new year - fun wardrobe. Makes sense huh? And let's face it, fun clothes just make life happier. I have several zip-up sweatshirts in my closet right now, but this one stands apart from the crowd. This particular one from Evy's Tree has the cutest ruffle around the waist making it easy to dress up or down. Plus it's a universally flattering cut (not to mention its also super soft).

I picked up these Keds when I was their social media intern a few summers back and they are still my all-time favorite pair! Glitter makes everything better and these shoes are no exception. You get the comfort of Keds with the added bonus of walking around with twinkly feet.

The Snuggle is Real

Okay...I will always be a cat lady at heart. But I must admit that this little bug (my bestie's pup) has squirmed her way into my heart. She's always there when you need a good snuggle. And the best way to snuggle, in my opinion, is in super comfy clothes! Which let me tell you, this sweatshirt feels like you're being wrapped in a soft, warm hug. SO SOFT. And they come in the cutest designs! Not only "The Snuggle is Real", but I've also seen a "Netflix and Chilled Wine" - which let's be honest, is just funny. But seeing as I say "the struggle is real" on a daily basis (ask my grad school friends, hah!) - I figured this one was the perfect fit! Head over to The Trendy Sparrow for more of her cute designs!

And these leggings are by far my favorite pair I own. I just got them in from Yummie and they did NOT disappoint! They are the perfect amount of stretchy. And thick enough to not be sheer (because sheer leggings are the worst) - but not too thick that they're hot. Literally the perfect lounge clothes. I could 100% live in this outfit.

Outline the Sky / Boston

If you've been following me on Instagram for the past few years, you'll know that Boston has a special place in my heart. A few summers ago, I worked at Keds as their social media intern. Keds is one of Wolverine Worldwide's brands (some of their other brands include Sperry, Chaco, Hush Puppies and more). Keds is where my entire blogging journey began. I was a Keds ambassador during college, and was then given the opportunity to head to Boston for the summer and become one of their interns! Needless to say, it was an INCREDIBLE experience and not only did I fall in love with social media/marketing - but Keds and Boston as well.

I was extremely nervous when I first got there. It was all very outside of my comfort zone. I was in a brand new city, 25 hours away from family, where I knew absolutely no one. I couldn't find an apartment to rent that was fully furnished, so I ended up living in a (slightly sketchy) extended stay hotel. I didn't have much (really any) social media or marketing experience and was anxious that I would have no idea what to do. What if I was a horrible at my job? What if I didn't meet new friends? What if I hated living in the city? But all of those fears were quickly put to rest. I soon learned that I am totally a city girl. I LOVED living in Boston. And the Keds family quickly welcomed me in and I felt right at home! I became good friends with several of the other interns and had the time of my life!

Obviously headquarters was beautiful, and (as is expected with Keds) there was inspiration around every corner. For the first time in my life, I genuinely enjoyed going to work everyday - I actually looked forward to it! Part of my job responsibilities included helping with social media sites (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest etc.), participating in brainstorm sessions, and also blogging my Keds journey on their Tumblr. My love for social media/marketing began to grow and I was able to gain incredibly valuable experience. Everyone who works at Keds is insanely talented and I was lucky to be a part of such an awesome team!

I spent each weekend exploring Boston - the Public Gardens, Public Library, Mike's Pastry (the best cannoli I've ever eaten) and Fenway Park, because let's be honest, you have to go to a Red Sox game to be a true Bostonian.

This internship was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and I have nothing but positive things to say about Keds and Wolverine.  If you're a college student looking for an incredible internship experience, I highly suggest you check out the Wolverine Worldwide Internship Program! I made lasting bonds with incredible people and loved every minute of it.

This Boston Skyline sweatshirt from Outline The Sky is a constant reminder for me to step outside of my comfort zone. Taking a new job in a new city was something I never thought I'd do. But I can't tell you how glad I am that I did! I discovered a new passion and met some wonderful people along the way. I was able to explore a brand new city (filled with incredible history) and work at a job that I absolutely loved. Even though I'm currently in graduate school for speech pathology - I still find myself daydreaming about a job in the marketing world, and hopefully one day I'll be able to pursue that dream. But for now the memories of my time spent with Keds in Boston are enough.

AND I have a special discount code for you! Use code "EMILYB20" at checkout for 20% off at outlinethesky.com! So you too can get great gear to rep the city that holds your heart.

Love is Greater

I am STILL on Christmas break, and let me tell you - it's awesome. I don't think I fully realized how exhausted I was. If we're being honest here, grad school isn't what I thought it'd be. It kind of sucks. Okay...really sucks. But it just makes me that much more thankful for a break! I've been spending my time sleeping, eating and watching netflix. Is there anything better? I think not.

I recently came across a new company, Hello, Grace, and am newly addicted. Her designs are just as cute as can be and combine fashion + positivity.  I got the Love is Greater sweatshirt and have already gotten so many compliments on it! Not only is it super cozy, but I love that I can promote an outlook that I wholeheartedly agree with. Love IS greater. Greater than my stress, worry, happiness and sorrow - love will always win.

I hope y'all have been having a fabulous New Year - I am so thankful for each and every one of you who have supported me in my blog! Crazy to think I just started blogging last year - what a year it has been and I can't wait to see the road ahead!

Gilmore Girl(s) Crush

I've always been a Gilmore Girls fan. I still remember watching Rory and Lorelai, huddled up on the couch with my mom and sister, desperately wishing I lived in Stars Hollow. I grew up watching the show and the Gilmore's will always be a part of my life. So clearly when I saw this sweatshirt - it was a match made in my childhood television dreams.

It's all of a sudden become crazy cold in Arkansas, so I've literally been living in this sweatshirt. Because not only does it public profess my love for the Gilmore Girls, but it's also the SOFTEST sweatshirt I've ever owned. If you're a Gilmore Girl at heart like me, you need this sweatshirt in your closet. And did you hear about the new episodes coming to Netflix!? Seriously can't wait! Shop this look below! (PS - for those of you who want to know....I'm #TeamDean for life)
