90s Grunge

Anyone else get confused between plaid, gingham and checkered? Am I crazy? Sometimes they all look the same to me....but regardless - I love them all. So why not just mix them together! Anytime I'm wearing a shift dress (like this fabulous shirt dress from J.Jill) and I want to add a little more shape to it, I typically just tie something around the waist. In this case, I grabbed my fave plaid shirt to give it a "90's grunge" feel. I did my best to channel my inner Topanga with the hair. Any 90's children out there? I know you know what I'm talking about. #boymeetsworld4life

And it seems like everyone nowadays is pairing their dresses with sneakers. And I'm totally hopping on that train. Cute and comfy? Yes please. So I went to my ever-loyal Keds. I've gotten so much wear out of these over the years!

Stripes, Dots, Plaid....Oh My!

In my opinion, you can never have enough pattern in your life. Although I will be the first to admit, mixing patterns can totally go wrong.....I've found when you stick to the basics, everything in moderation turns out just right. Stripes, dots, plaid - the best. When it comes to fall, layers are key! So I love to have a scarf handy anytime I'm heading out for a long day!

This tunic from one of my new favorite boutiques, Wit &Whimsy, is the perfect fall piece. It's long enough to wear with jeans or leggings, and if you're not a giant (such as myself) you could totally wear it as a dress! It has cute little pocket details on the front and is super comfy!

I topped it off with this perfect military jacket from J.Coda - which comes in both olive and nude! I'm wearing a size large for reference. It's the easiest layering item for fall - comfy, casual and goes with literally anything. I'm wearing the olive - but I am so tempted to get the nude as well! I love grabbing this on-the-go! Because if your weather is anything like Arkansas, it can go from warm and sunny to freezing at the drop of a hat.

Pattern Mixing 101

In case you haven't already noticed - I'm pattern addicted. I love mixing different prints and textures, but the key is to keep it balanced. I typically only mix two bold prints (in this case, plaid and leopard) and then keep the rest of my outfit fairly neutral. But it's so hard to find neutral shoes that aren't super boring. But, thanks to Restricted Shoes, I finally found the perfect pair! The color is perfection and the little buckles on the sides keep them fashion forward.

And let's talk about these earrings. I'm completely obsessed with ear jackets! These pearl ear jackets are from The Peach Box and are absolute perfection! Pearls are always classy, but these earrings add a little edge. Shop this look below! (PS - Use code "GLITTER25"for 25% off at restrictedshoes.com)

Fall Pattern Play + Lots of Layers

It is finally cooling off here in Arkansas and I couldn't wait to pull out all the plaid in my closet. This buffalo check vest is from Old Navy and is super affordable! Y'all know I love pattern mixing, so I paired it with my striped baseball sweatshirt from J.Crew. And with Arkansas weather - you never know what you're going to get, so I tied a military jacket around my waist just in case! I'm a firm believer that you can never have too many layers during the fall.

I also wanted to share my brand new phone case from Mophie with you guys! Not only does it charge your phone, but it supports a good cause! For every sale of the (PRODUCT) RED juice pack, Mophie will contribute 5% to The Global Fund to help elminate AIDS! It's a win win. Shop this look below!

Falling for Plaid

The weather is slowly cooling down and I am beyond excited! Fall is my absolute favorite season and I'm am completely over this heat. So obviously when the temperature finally dropped below 70, I had to get my blanket scarf out! Pairing plaid and stripes is one of my favorite ways to play with pattern in the fall! And this burgundy striped swing dress is crazy cheap over at Old Navy right now! I ended up getting two of the solid colors too because you can never have too many swing dresses, am I right!? I wanted to add a few dainty accessories to finish off this look, so I paired it with these gorgeous cluster earrings and rhinestone cuff from my friend Annette's line - Confetti by Annette! Her jewelry is incredible quality and is made right here in the USA! And they're made of Swarovski crystals, so they are SO sparkly (which y'all know I love)! Get the details down below!
