Fur-ocious Formal Wear

Not going to lie....I felt a little extra walking around in this. But I kind of liked it?

This is PERFECT for those formal winter events that you're going to where you want to look fabulous, but not be completely freezing. Jumpsuits are all the rage right now. I went to a department store to find a long dress last week and literally couldn't find anything but jumpsuits...and I'm not mad about it. This is a trend I can easily get on board with. No tights? A formal outfit that's comfortable? Sign me up!

Now, let's not get too crazy...it is still winter. So for warmth's sake, I topped it off with this faux fur coat. I never get to wear this, so when I have any excuse to break this bad boy out, I'm taking it. And of course you can never go wrong with side swept waves and a pair of statement earrings.

Accent Dresses

So I'm going to start off with some sad news - this dress is sold out online. But, if you check your local Dillards, they may still have it in stock (it's Gianni Bini). But here comes the good news....I've found several similar options and some new favorites for you!

I've been into intricate detailing this year. Whether it be embroidery, beading, sequins or metallic accents - I love them all. And with winter weddings, galas, masquerades and social parties - I've been stocking up on some new dresses!

The key to wearing dresses with lots of detailing is to keep the accessories simple. If you're going to wear jewelry, I'd limit it to earrings. It's hard to wear a necklace with these dresses because it distracts from the beautiful details of the dress and adds unnecessary sparkle (gasp! I know...never thought you'd hear me say those words). It's also difficult to wear a bracelet. I've learned this from personal experience. If you've got any beading/sequins, a bracelet can easily catch and snag the dress. So unless it's super smooth - I'd leave it at home!

Hair and makeup really just depend on the dress - so imagine away! I'm always a fan of simple curls and a bold lip.

Most Comfortable Vest EVER

Do y'all ever have those days when you just can't deal with real clothes and want to spend the day wrapped up in a blanket? Because this is the struggle I deal with every weekday. Hah!

When you work with kids (or not), you just want to be comfortable. I'm running around all day, getting up and down off the ground - there is no room for heels and skirts. But I'm fashion lover down to my core, so part of me always wants to feel semi-chic. So, when I opened my latest package from my friends over at Chicwish, it was like the heavens had opened and dropped down this vest.

It feels like the softest blanket you've ever owned and is soooo comfy. I'm obsessed! Now, yes...it is a furry, fluffy statement - but when paired with all black underneath, it looks sleek and chic. This would be so cute with some chambray as well! This vest is definitely going to be on repeat all school year. And bonus - my kiddos love it (potentially) even more than I do. Nashville Street Style

I partnered up with two INCREDIBLE photographers, Micahla Vaughn and Maria Gloer, to take some photos on my favorite street here in Nashville (12th Ave S).  Michala is based in Lousiana and Maria is based here in Nash. Both are incredibly sweet and SO talented. They have a way of making you feel at ease and you end up laughing your way through the photos. I highly recommend either of them if you're looking to have some professional photos done of yourself or your family!

I'm back again to talk about one of my favorite brands, J. Jill. You all know how much I love their clothing because it's high quality and comfortable. Today's outfit is no exception. They just released these denim leggings and I am in love! Thinking about getting the other colors as well. They have the perfect amount of stretch to feel like leggings, but still look like jeans. And for any other jegging lovers out there - you know that's a hard combo to find. I paired it with this mixed stripe tunic top. Monochromatic looks are all the rage right now - so I'm totally feeling the chambray/denim pairing. But to break it up a little bit, I added in some brown accessories with this faux suede jacket and leather boots/bag. The easiest outfit to look chic but remain casual. This has been a go-to outfit of mine for weekends! Shop this look below.

Comfy NYE

New Years Eve is just around the corner! It's one of my favorite holidays - any time a holiday centers around glitter, it's a winner. I typically go for a sequin/beaded dress for NYE and end up with scratches all over my arms (girls - you totally know what I'm taking about). So this year I'm switching it up and wearing velvet. Not only is it comfortable - but so on trend this holiday season. This one from Maris Dehart is the perfect amount of classy and sexy. It's going to be perfect for all the parties! But it's SO cold at the moment, so I paired it with this luxurious faux fur coat from Goodwill. If you're planning on being outside for NYE - you might want to add some tights!

Hope you all have the best time ringing in the new year!

Gifts for the Parents

Parents are the HARDEST to shop for. At least, my parents are. They either already have it or don't want it. I feel like I have to plan their Christmas presents months in advance in order to get it right! So I decided to share what I went with this year.

Dad's up first. My Dad has an unhealthy watch addiction. Like...his collection is insane. Yet, he continues to buy them - so I decided to contribute to the habit (I mean, who am I to judge - have you seen my earring collection?). Bradford Watch Company creates beautiful, timeless pieces that are simple and high quality. Perfect addition to any collection. And the best part is that they're giving back this holiday season by partnering with March of Dimes to support research and programs that promote healthier pregnancies for all moms.

And up next - Mom. She's tricky. She's one who likes anything you get her - but you want it be something she ACTUALLY likes. You know what I mean? So this year, I went with the basics. What does every girl love? Comfort and style. So I went to my favorite athleisure brand - Yummie. I literally wear their leggings every day because they are SO comfy. They're high waisted with a shaping panel built in making them super flattering. And they have styles to suit everyone - mesh inserts, moto detailing, velvet and leather! You can never go wrong with comfort.

Gifts for the Bestie

It's almost Christmas! If you need some last minute gift ideas - I'm here to help. Today I'm focusing on what to get your bestie. Now, if you're at all like me, shopping for friends is hard because I often end up wanting to keep their presents for myself. Hah! The struggle is real.

But problem solved! I just bought two of everything this year. Hah! Okay....maybe it's a problem, but when you get cute matching monogrammed purses, can you blame me? And it's an excuse to take some cute Christmas pictures together! I love getting things monogrammed because I feel like it makes it more personal. When you're buying for a good friend, you want to get something high quality as well - and I guarantee these leather bags from Jon Hart will last a lifetime! She was so excited when she opened her package! I think our smiles say it all.

And if you're looking for more ideas, I've listed a few of my picks below! Happy shopping.

Embroidered Obsessed

I know....you're all sick of seeing embroidery. But I LOVE IT. I might have an embarrassing amount of embroidery in my closet at the moment, but I can't help myself. I've gotten so many compliments on this sweater. It makes a statement while still being casual which I love. It's a little oversized and just slightly cropped. I styled it with jeans and my Keds - but this could easily be dressed up with a skirt and some boots. And I'm pleased to say that this is one of those sweaters that is even prettier in person. Sometimes a website will say "embroidered" when really, it's printed on. But this one is actual embroidery and the detailing is so intricate and pretty! Check it out below!
