90s Grunge

Anyone else get confused between plaid, gingham and checkered? Am I crazy? Sometimes they all look the same to me....but regardless - I love them all. So why not just mix them together! Anytime I'm wearing a shift dress (like this fabulous shirt dress from J.Jill) and I want to add a little more shape to it, I typically just tie something around the waist. In this case, I grabbed my fave plaid shirt to give it a "90's grunge" feel. I did my best to channel my inner Topanga with the hair. Any 90's children out there? I know you know what I'm talking about. #boymeetsworld4life

And it seems like everyone nowadays is pairing their dresses with sneakers. And I'm totally hopping on that train. Cute and comfy? Yes please. So I went to my ever-loyal Keds. I've gotten so much wear out of these over the years!

Classic Chambray

Everyone needs a chambray dress in their closet. It's one of those staples that never goes out of style. I've worn mine every year - sure accessories may change, but the dress itself never does! This one from J.Jill is incredibly soft (as is all of their items) and it has pockets - which, give me a dress that has pockets and I'm sold. It's still a little chilly here in Arkansas, so I topped it off with my striped zip-up from my friends over at Evys Tree!

Cropped Floral Jumpsuit

Okay....I felt WAY too cool in this outfit. But I mean - c'mon. It's a cropped floral jumpsuit! Every time I put this on, it never fails to make me feel super trendy.  Leave it to Maude to always have the perfect pieces to fill my (closet's) heart's desire. It will be gorgeous by itself when it gets a little warmer out - but for now, I'm perfectly happy to style it with a leather bomber. I know some people out there hate styling navy and black together, but I think they compliment each other well. Plus, I'll take any excuse to throw a leather bomber on, let's be real.

Back to the Gym

Not going to lie, graduate school took a toll on my body. After years of constant stress with no time to cook (leaving me to eat out often) or exercise left me out of shape and a bit more jiggly that I used to be. But now that I am finally done (hallelujah), I decided it was time to get back to the gym. I've been going to Zumba classes twice a week and then just doing the elliptical and weights the other two days. There are definitely weeks that are better then others, but I'm doing my best to get back into a routine!

But I must say that cute workout gear makes it easier. So cliche - but so true. Ellie Activewear is a subscription box that sends you a full workout outfit (plus some accessories like this water bottle) every month. It takes all the work out of having to plan out a gym outfit. And wireless headphones are a MUST, and this pair from Sudio Sweden is the best. They're white and gold, making them super chic and the sound quality is out of this world!

Most Comfortable Dress EVER

This is literally the most comfortable dress I own. Like - holy moly I could live in this dress. PLUS it's freaking adorable, so it's a total win win. This dress, from Antique Garden, is also available in charcoal! It's perfectly on trend for the spring with the ruffled cold shoulder along with stripes. I plan on wearing this dress non-stop for the next few months. I love when I can find a dress that looks cute with tennis shoes, and this is one of them! Perfect for when you need to look good but still be comfortable.

Unexpected Pairings

I love mixing unexpected patterns together. Florals and stripes are two of my favorites to pair together! J.Jill just released these new floral joggers and I am beyond obsessed. They're ridiculously comfortable and have a drawstring waist so you can wear them on the hips or high waisted. And the best part - they're machine washable! Always important. Plus, these will be perfect for spring, summer and fall - such a good transition piece. The pattern is black and white, so they go with just about everything! I plan on wearing them with crops and tank tops in the summer and sweaters in the fall. I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of wear in these!

Mellow Yellow Layers

It's been so incredibly warm here - it was 80 degrees this week! But regardless, I'm not quite ready to jump into a summer wardrobe yet. So, of course, I've been wearing all of my jackets non-stop to slowly begin the transition to spring.

Layers are always my best friend when it comes to (what seems like) the ever-changing weather. This dress from my fave boutique, Maude, is one of the easiest pieces to layer. You could pair it with tights or leggings, a jean jacket or moto jacket (like I have on here) or just wear it by itself. The possibilities are endless with a good staple dress. AND this dress comes in a pretty blush color as well! Pretty sure I need them both. Shop this look below!
