Book Worm Casual

Currently re-reading one of my all-time favorite books, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. If you haven't read it yet - you NEED to. Story gets me teary eyed (in a good way) every time. I think this is my 6th time to read it and it just gets better and better.

It feels oddly like fall in Arkansas again, but hey...totally not complaining! But when it's not cold enough for a coat, but not warm enough to go without I always reach for my military jacket! I love pairing it with patterned neutrals like this button-up from Evy's Tree! It's kind of an almond-eque tan which I was slightly worried would wash me out (because y'all know I'm super pale) but I was definitely wrong! It's a warm neutral that would flatter any skin-tone. And it has the cutest pink flower detailing on the inside of the collar for a little added flair. But I will say, if you're a little larger chested like myself, order a size up because this button-up is fitted! But trust me, this top will quickly become a closet staple. I love mine!

School Girl Blues

I just started my final placement of graduate school (serious praise hands) and am working at an elementary school, which I absolutely love! But the one downside is that I can only wear jeans on Friday, and seeing that the majority of my wardrobe is jeans, I've been doing some shopping - which let's be honest, I'll take any excuse to shop. Hah! But I've been stocking up on comfy dresses and cardigans.

This cardigan is going to be a staple this semester! It's the perfect length, plus it's lightweight which makes it ideal for layering. I decided to pair it with a chambray shift dress, but as it's fairly neutral, this cardigan would pair well with almost any dress! Plus is crazy soft (as is everything from J.Jill) so you'll be cozy all day long.

And you know me, I couldn't resist a little shimmer, so I topped it all off with my favorite rose gold purse. Be sure to shop this look below!

Getting Fit in Style

New year, new workout clothes...right? Hah! I always tell myself that I'll workout more if I have cute workout gear. And these leggings from Zobha are fit the bill. They have edgy mesh cut-outs and foil print paneling along the leg. Plus I love that these double as workout leggings and leggings I wear in everyday life!

If you haven't heard of Zobha, you have got to check them out. Move over lululemon, there's a new workout line in town. They make fashionable gear that can take you directly from the gym to whatever else you have going on that day in style! I absolutely love their leggings and I look forward to trying more clothing from them - I have my eyes on a few of their sports bras! So cute! And I have a DISCOUNT CODE for you all! Just type in "EmilyB30" at checkout for 30% off your purchase!

So here's to keeping our new year resolutions and getting fit (in style of course)! Shop this look below!

Is it Spring Yet?

Pink? Ruffles? Flowers? Check, check, check. Pretty sure my 5 year old self loves this dress just as much as my 24 year old self does. I am in love with this pretty blush number! It's from my favorite local boutique, Shop Maude. Not only is it fun to twirl in (obvious bonus) but it's perfect for spring - which will be here before we know it! It is spaghetti straps, so you could easily wear it on it's own, but while it's still a little cool out, I'll be wearing mine with a denim jacket!

And little tip - I was browsing through Anthropologie's website the other day and low and behold I saw this very dress....for $60 MORE! What? That's nonsense. Grab this beauty for a steal while you can here!

I also wore my hair up in a milkmaid braid (so easy - just two braids pinned up) which I find is a perfect pair for jean jackets, or really anything with a collar. I find that wearing your hair up with collars always makes it look a little sleeker. And of course I pulled out my favorite pair of statement earrings (yes...I have them in multiple colors).

Winter Blues

Over the years, I've found vests to be one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. You can layer them over (almost) anything and they're an easy item to grab on the way out if you think you'll get chilly later. Most of the vests I currently have are puffer vests, but once I saw this vest from Evy's Tree, I knew it needed to join my collection (and it's on SALE!).

This vest is more chic than all of the other vests I own. And bonus - it's navy and brown, which makes it the perfect neutral for any outfit; but it also has a fun plaid pattern lining the inside to add an interesting statement! I chose to keep my outfit fairly neutral with a denim on denim look, but this vest would look great styled with a skirt, sweater and OTK boots or a long sleeve dress and some tights this winter!

How to Dress Up a Bomber Jacket

I've decided to call this my "edgy Sandy from Grease" look. Hah! But in all seriousness, y'all know how much I love a good bomber jacket and this one from Almost Famous Clothing is no exception. It's a silky/satin material that hangs well and is accented with silver zippers. It's super comfy (but does run a tiny bit large - but I wear mine oversized anyway).

I used to always wear my bombers one way - fairly casual. I typically pair them with boyfriend jeans, a basic tee and my Keds. But today I wanted to show y'all how to dress up your bomber jackets! The key to dressing up any outfit is always in the details.

Tip #1: You can never go wrong with cheetah accessories. A cheetah bootie and a clutch go a long way. I feel like they can make (almost) anything feel chic.

Tip #2: A bold lip always takes your look to the next level and makes you look a little bit more "put together".

Tip #3: I wouldn't be Musings of Glitter without adding a little (okay...a lot) of bling. Long dangly earrings always make a statement. And I recently added this rhinestone choker to my closet and I LOVE IT. If you don't have one yet - get one. Trust me, your jewelry collection will thank you.

Tip #4: Hair, hair, hair. Do something different than your usual. Mix it up! Style a cool braid or a sleek pony - change up your look!

Hope these tips were helpful! Shop this look below.

Starting the New Year with Glitter and Ruffles

It's the start of the new year, I'm currently on break from school and it's shockingly warm (for winter) in Arkansas - all of which call for celebration! So obviously there's no better way to do that than wearing glitter shoes, a ruffled sweatshirt, pink beanie and a rose gold purse, am I right!?

Hah - okay...maybe that's just me. But new year - fun wardrobe. Makes sense huh? And let's face it, fun clothes just make life happier. I have several zip-up sweatshirts in my closet right now, but this one stands apart from the crowd. This particular one from Evy's Tree has the cutest ruffle around the waist making it easy to dress up or down. Plus it's a universally flattering cut (not to mention its also super soft).

I picked up these Keds when I was their social media intern a few summers back and they are still my all-time favorite pair! Glitter makes everything better and these shoes are no exception. You get the comfort of Keds with the added bonus of walking around with twinkly feet.
