Cropped Sweaters and High Waisted Jeans

Living in Arkansas - you never know what weather you're gonna get. It could be 75 and sunny one day, then 15 and snowing the next. And now that it's officially winter (and I've switched over my closet), it can be hard to figure out what to wear on those warmer days. Because, if you're like me, you want to look wintery...but you don't want to be hot all day.

My friends...I introduce you to the cropped sweater. This is the first cropped sweater I've owned - and I kind of love it. I paired mine with high waisted jeans so I could tuck it in, but this would be super cute layered over a tunic, dress or with a skirt! The color on Chicwish's website says plum, but it's definitely more of a rust color in person. To make it feel a little more in season, I topped it off with one of my go-to plaid scarves.

Merry Christmas!

Twirling in excitement because IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! My absolute favorite time of the year. Christmas lights, hot chocolate, family time - nothing beats it. I'm soaking up every minute! Only downside of Christmas time is that it's freezing outside. But I found the perfect solution to your winter-chill woes!

This poncho is essential for the holidays because not only does it keep you warm and toasty, but it's still festive and fashion forward. I played mine over a red plaid button-up, but you could pair this with a dress too! It doesn't have set "sleeves" so you can just drape it over whatever you happen to be wearing. You can snag it from Chicwish (ps - it's on sale!).

Embroidered for the Holidays

Oooo, y'all. This embroidered dress deserves all the heart eyes in the world because it's even prettier in person! It has the most gorgeous, delicate, little flowers all over it and I am {beyond} in love. Now, fair warning - it was a little short on me. But if you're not 5'10, it will be the perfect length for you! I ended up layering it over a slightly longer baby blue shirt dress; which could be an added bonus if it's freezing wherever you are (it's SO cold in Arkansas all of a sudden).

And to match the boldness of the embroidery, I had to step up my accessory game - so obviously fuchsia tassel earrings were in order. I'm also currently into matching my lipstick to my earrings (is that weird?) so I topped it all off with my favorite pink shade.

Now, I typically go for a red dress on Christmas (I know...so predictable), but I think I may mix it up this year and wear this one! Because y'all - it's seriously that pretty. Grab it before it's gone!

Edgy Holiday Wear

So....I'm clearly already ready for New Years Eve over here. Don't get me wrong, Christmas is my favorite time of year! But there's something about all the glitter and sequins on New Years that just seems to call my name. Hah!

This velvet dress from Maude is seriously incredible. It's so perfect to ring in the new year because you can wear it by itself or layer it if you're planning to celebrate outside! It's a mix of navy, plum and silver that's the perfect moody holiday look. I'll be at a party outside this year - so I decided to pair it with some sequin leggings (because let's be real, when else is it socially acceptable to wear sequined pants?) and my fave leather bomber! Top it off with lots of jewelry and you've got an edgy look that screams luxe.

But be sure to scoop up this dress while you can - I don't think it will last long!

Airbrush Makeup with Luminess

Hey friends! I've been wanting to try airbrush makeup for the longest time! Thanks to my friends over at Luminess Air - I finally got to try my hand at it! The machine is actually super simple to use and easy to set up. You just plug it in, turn it on and you're ready to go! The starter kit comes with a variety of foundation shades (you select your skin tone) along with a blush, highlighter, and primer. And if you're not sure how you feel about airbrushing, they even offer a 30 day trial!

Tip: When you're going to apply the makeup, pay attention to the little lines on the side of the stylus; for ideal application, pull back to the middle line!

They say to use around 4 drops - but I fill my canister about halfway. I found I used more than they usually recommended, but keep in mind that I like medium to full coverage.

When spraying, simply hold the stylus 4 inches or so away from your face to get that flawless look! It definitely took me a few times to get the hang of it, but now I absolutely LOVE my airbrush system. And for those of you (like myself) who struggle with those pesky pimples, this is the perfect way to cover them because you can just spray right on top of them - so you're not just globbing foundation on with a brush. Seriously, you can't even see them. My one and only concern with this system is that the product kind of settles into fine lines around my eyes - but to be honest, I don't ever use foundation around there anyway. I am a concealer girl! But just be aware of that!

And be sure to check out their website for lots of information about how to use the machine, including videos! They have tons of resources for you!

Coziest Sweater

Big, chunky sweaters are quite possibly one of the best things about fall. Nothing cozier than bundling up with some hot chocolate in a warm sweater by the fire, right? This cardigan has officially become my go-to "it's freezing outside, but I still want to look cute" sweater. You know how some of the chunky sweaters can make you look....um, chunky? Hah! This sweater somehow still manages to keep you nice and toasty, while also still looking fashion forward and avoiding the dreaded sweater frump.

I added a pop of color with a head scarf. Good news is - this one from J.Jill supports their Compassion Fund so you can shop for a cause. I love when I can purchase a piece whose proceeds go to something I support. The compassion fund supports community organizations help disadvantaged and homeless women become self-sufficient. Girl power at it's finest.

Comfy Fall Layers

Comfy clothes are the best clothes. Once I started graduate school - I began wearing scrubs daily. Let me tell you....once you go scrubs, you never go back. Hah! The thought of wearing jeans on the weekend seemed like torture, so leggings became my new best friend. And as one who has worn leggings all throughout college, I now consider myself a "legging connoisseur" of sorts. I've tried just about every brand imaginable, but somehow you always end up with stretched out or faded leggings after a few weeks.

I just recently stumbled upon Yummie by Heather Thomson and y'all. Legging game changer. I started wearing her Milan leggings and fell in LOVE. So much so, that I got another pair....and am seriously considering getting a pair for every day of the week. These are the perfect amount of stretchy, they never fade or stretch out, and they're a little higher waisted which I love. They're thick....but not too thick if you know what I mean. Thick enough to be opaque, but not so thick they're hot. Y'all - I know I sound like I'm some type of crazy legging legging, but these are seriously THAT good.

They're also perfect to wear with tunics, this one is from Yummie as well! It has little thumb holes to keep your hands nice and toasty. Plus - it has a little hood. It's also super soft and great alone or layered. Shop this look below!
